About Priority Paws

Hi, I’m Sabrina and I run Priority Paws solo, When you hire me, you know exactly who is caring for your dog every single time. Working independently means I can build genuine relationships with both pets and their owners. Your dog will never be walked by a rotating cast of strangers. Instead, they get consistent care from someone who really gets to know their personality, quirks, and needs. Having the same dog walker creates trust and consistency.

This also means I can offer a more personalized service. Whether your dog needs a slow stroll and lots of time to sniff around or a dog that requires a brisk walk to burn off energy, I tailor each outing to suit them, and I keep you updated along the way. With me, it's not just a business, it’s a one on one commitment to your dog’s happiness and well-being.

Why did I name my business Priority Paws? The name Priority Paws comes from something I truly believe, our pets aren’t just animals, they’re family. And when you trust me with your dog, I know you’re trusting me with someone who means the world to you.

That’s why your pet becomes my priority the moment they’re in my care. Their comfort, happiness, and safety always come first. I don’t believe in rushing walks or juggling too many dogs ,I believe in giving each one the time, love, and attention they deserve. Your dog will always be treated with kindness, patience, and heart, just like you would treat them yourself.

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about my dog walking services.

Do you do group walks and if not what are the beneifits of individual dog walks?

I offer solo walks or walks with dogs from the same household to give your dog my full attention. This means no group stress, distractions, or pressure to keep pace with others. I can focus on their safety, comfort, and specific needs—especially around off-leash or reactive dogs. Solo walks are calmer, safer, and allow for personalized updates while helping spot early signs of anxiety or health issues. Whether your dog needs a brisk walk or a gentle stroll, each outing is fully tailored to them.

What areas do you cover?

Three Kings, Hillsborough, Mt Roskill, Royal Oak, Onehunga, One Tree Hill, Greenlane, Epsom, Mt Eden and Remuera If you're nearby these areas but are unsure, feel free to reach out — I’ll let you know if I can accommodate you.

What happens if it rains/ storms, strong winds?

I walk in heavy rain and strong wind but extreme weather eg thunder storms I’ll always put your dog’s safety first and communicate with you about possible options.

Can you top up my dogs water bowl?

Absolutely! I’m always happy to check and refill your dog’s water bowl after a walk. Keeping them hydrated is just as important as the walk itself — especially on warm days. I also carry fresh water with me on walks, so your dog can have a drink while we’re out and about — especially on warmer days or longer routes.

How do I book a walk?

You’re welcome to email or send me a text, and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can. Since I’m often out walking dogs, I may not be able to answer right away — but I’ll give you a call back as soon as I’m free.

Do you send updates after each walk?

Yes absolutely! I’m happy to send a quick update after each walk — either a verbal message or a photo, depending on what you prefer. Some clients love a cheerful dog pic, while others just want a short check-in. Just let me know your preference and I’ll keep you in the loop after every outing.

What’s your cancellation policy?

I kindly ask for at least 6 hours’ notice if you need to cancel a walk. This helps me plan my day and offer the spot to another client. Of course, I understand that things happen — if your dog is unwell, or there’s an emergency, just let me know as soon as you can. Your dog’s health and your peace of mind always come first.

Do you offer weekend or evening walks?

I do my best to be flexible! Let me know what you need, and I’ll see if I can make it work.

Will my dog be let off-leash?

I only walk dogs off-leash in secure, designated areas—and only with the owner's permission. I also ensure the dog has a reliable recall and the right temperament for off-leash walks. Your dog’s safety is always my top priority.

Are there any dogs you don’t walk?

Yes — for safety and compatibility, I don’t walk: -Dogs with a history of aggression toward people or other dogs -Large dogs that pull strongly on the lead -Unneutered male dogs I’m happy to walk small dogs, well-behaved larger dogs, female dogs and neutered male dogs. These guidelines help ensure calm, safe walks for everyone. If you’re unsure whether your dog is a good fit, just get in touch — I’m happy to chat about it.

What should I provide for the walk?

Just your dog’s usual collar or harness, lead, and any extras like treats or poop bags and towel to dry down Paws etc if you prefer I use your own. I also carry my own supplies just in case.

Can you get my dog from inside the house if I’m not home?

Yes, absolutely. I have some clients provide me with a key, door code, fob tag or leave a key in a secure lockbox. I’ll always make sure your home is locked up properly after each visit, and your dog is safely settled.

How do I pay you?

I accept bank transfer (direct debit) the day before the walk, or cash paid in advance on the day of walk. If you need to cancel, I just ask for at least 6 hours’ notice. If you’ve already paid and cancel in time, your payment will be held as credit for a future walk. This helps me plan my day and keeps things fair for everyone — thank you!

Do you do meet and greets before start walks?

Yes! We offer complimentary meet and greets to get to know you and your dog before the first walk. It’s a great way to ensure a good fit and discuss your pet’s needs in person.

What are the beneifits of hiring a dog walker?

Regular walks keep your dog healthy, stimulated, and well-behaved. A professional dog walker offers consistent exercise, social time, and a fun break—perfect for when you're busy or away. It brings peace of mind, less guilt, and a calmer, happier dog. Whether you're injured, have mobility issues, or just a packed schedule, a reliable walker makes sure your dog gets what they need. Ideal for elderly owners, people with arthritis, busy professionals, anyone short on time, or those working long hours or not keen on walking their dog in bad weather. Enjoy a happy, well-exercised dog—without the stress.
